Sunday Thoughts....

I'm sitting with a blanket down in my newly finished basement, in front of my brand new fireplace, listening to Sunday music, watching my kids play nicely, (wondering how long it will last) catching up on some family journaling/blogging and can't help thinking about how extremely blessed my life is...

The past few weeks I've been constantly thinking about the people affected by the Las Vegas shooting. Family members whose lives have been forever changed by one man and an awful, terrible choice. I  can't imagine the amount of anger and hate a person would have to hold to unleash that amount of destruction on innocent, defenseless, GOOD people. As I sit here watching my kids play, my heart breaks for the families who lost loved ones. I'm squeezing my kids extra tight each passing day...you really never know when it might be your last. I get to move on...I get to come home to each and every family member. I'm not spending every waking moment with a heartache that some of these people are facing right now. Some people don't GET to forget like we do. We feel sad, but eventually life moves on and we forget. There are families left with missing pieces and huge holes in their hearts, and are just expected to continue on with their lives.

I guess I've just been really shaken by the awful things happening all around us, and its hard not to get depressed or feel anxious about our awful crazy world, and the awful, terrible people in it.

I have found a lot of peace through our wonderful church, through re-reading conference talks and going to Sunday meetings and to mutual. I know that if I were ever in a situation like some of these families, that it would eventually be okay. Emphasis on the 'eventually.'

Now more than ever I feel the desire to spread happiness and PROVE that there is so much more to this world than all the bad things in it. There are so many little things I can do each day that require little effort... I want to take treats to my neighbor.  I want to compliment people I see at church. I want to offer to help make someone else's burden lighter. I want to make someone smile. I want to be extra patient with my kids. I want to be nice to someone I don't necessarily like. I want to refrain from judging. I wan't to stop complaining. The only way I am truly happy is when I am serving other people (or eating, but that's beside the point) There is so much more we can do every day to make this world better. If only we would all take the initiative and prove these angry people wrong.

I choose to be HAPPY even if it doesn't always make sense to be. I have so much to be grateful for today!

Rylee 4 Months

Can't believe this cute Ry-Ry girl is already 4 months. Time keeps spinning faster and faster and I just find myself trying to take the time each day to hold each of my kids close for a minute or two, just to try and soak it all in before they grow up, because I know its coming fast.
This little baby here makes me so happy. She just spreads happiness, I don't know how to explain it. Something about that cute chubby little face that just makes us all warm and gooey inside. She adds so much to our family, we just love her!!

Service and Sugar Scrub - Young Women Activity

My cute counselor did a fun activity this week on service. We first talked about proper care for our hands. She discussed proper washing, moisturizing, and nail care. She had cute little posters demonstrating each step, and the girls had fun learning new hand care tips. She then let the girls split into groups, and go into the kitchen to make pumpkin spice sugar scrub. She got small mason jars from walmart, and she used this recipe:

1 c. coconut oil
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp pumpkin spice

Each girl doubled the recipe and I think it filled 4 baby mason jars. After they made their scrub, they all went to the bathroom to use it on their hands. We then gathered in the relief society room and she talked about other things we can do with our hands. The girls listed different service acts they could do to help their families/friends/others.

She made her own labels, but there are free labels you can find on pinterest.
I found this cute label printout from the Beauty Crafter:

The girls loved it!

First Day of Preschool 2017-2018

Boston started preschool Wednesday, September 6th. We thought he would have the same teacher this year, but it turns out they made a lot of changes and switched teachers around. We are SO sad. I expected Boston to freak out, but he handled it really well. His new teacher's name is Miss Maureen. She is just as nice as Pangci, and just loves Boston! At least, that's what she tells me haha. She says Boston is a big helper and is always the first to follow the rules. It helps that he knows all the rules from last year, but still its good to hear he is doing so well. A lady from Jeff's work gave Boston a cool Star Wars backpack that he takes each day, and is so much better about telling us about his day when he gets home. Last year he never remembered what he did at school haha. Hoping this last year of preschool doesn't go by too quickly!! Kindergarton is coming fast!

This day was also the day of Fishy Grandma's Back to School Carnival! Its been a fun tradition to go to her school and play games and play in the bounce house and on the slides!

Rylee 3 Months

Oh my goodness....what do I say about Rylee? She is the happiest, smiliest girl I've ever seen. Its very rare that she is NOT smiling! Which makes her nickname "Smiley-Rylee" so fitting! Her happiness is contagious! Our whole family seems happier when she is around. We just love this cute squishy little baby.
Rylee loves her daddy, and lights up even more when he's around. When he comes home from work she just giggles and waves her arms and legs until he comes to pick her up. Its pretty heart melting.
Rylee loves Boston and Ellie, and they LOVE to play with her. They especially love getting all up in her business, and Ellie's super fine hair tickles her face and makes her sneeze haha.
We love this cute baby of ours!

HAHAHA!
