Boston is EIGHT!

Look at that cute little tooth sticking out of his smile :-) I don't think i'm ready for the giant teeth that are about to take over this little guys face. And if they are anything like mine were, they will really will take up his whole face.

I wasn't great at getting pictures today. But we have lots of baptism pictures, so we'll call this good. Boston got to pick where we went for dinner, (still wondering when he'll start asking for something besides McDonalds ha!) take a treat in to his school class, and decided to go to the drive-through light show "Christmas in Color." The kids got to bundle up in the back of the truck as we drove through the light show. It was really fun, and the kids just had a blast.

He asked for a Harry Potter "Butterbeer" cake. Which is butterscotch-marshmallow flavor. It was one of the more difficult cakes i've made, and also the worst cake I ever made. Or maybe we just realized that none of us like butterscotch flavor...ha! It was so sweet it made my teeth hurt. Even the kids couldn't eat it. It went straight in the garbage. Oh well. He got another cake on Saturday to make up for it!

Boston asked for a fishing pole, and a journal, and got the Chronicles of Narnia book set. He really enjoys reading lately, and will read way past his bed time and sometimes even my bedtime. Stinker. I guess that is one benefit of online school, he doesn't have to get up early! He also enjoys writing in his journal. . . unless its Sunday and he is asked to do it. He doesn't like to be asked to write in the journal. I'm pretty sure there are some great things written in there about me as he is is currently scowling at me over the cover and clicking his pen angrily.

He asked for breakfast cake in the morning, and I made the mistake of putting a candle in the hot cake so we could sing to him. It melted from the bottom up. Whoops.

It was fun being able to celebrate his birthday all week long as we were able to celebrate with Grandparents on Saturday after his Baptism. He got more cake, and cinnamon rolls, his other favorite breakfast :) He got some cool gifts from Grandma's and Grandpa's and we are so grateful for them!

Lets see, some fun recent Boston stories....

Boston is afraid of all things with his teeth. He has several loose teeth that I keep pestering him to work on, but he's afraid to really wiggle them hard. And he won't let me touch them.

Rylee and Ellie were playing with one of those micro-bead pillows one day and Rylee bit it (probably to make Ellie mad - which worked) causing Ellie to angrily rip it out of her mouth. I freaked out a little bit and told them that doing that could rip her teeth out. *light-bulb* "Hey Boston, how about we use that pillow to get your tooth out?" We were laughing and teasing and I don't think he really thought what was about to happen, would actually happen.

He bit the pillow, and I immediately ripped that sucker out of his mouth. He was biting it so hard, that it ripped a hole in the pillow and a few little white micro-beads fell into his hand, which he thought were part of his tooth. I was laughing so hard, I just couldn't stop. He just stood there with a look of pure terror on his face, his hand held out in front of him, holding the little micro-beads, talking to me without moving his mouth (sounded like he had a mouth full of food) - Is my tooth broke? Did my tooth break?? All the while I can't even get words out because I'm laughing so hard at everything (I know, I know, I'm a great mom ;)) The tooth starts bleeding of course, which makes  him freak out more. I finally compose myself and he calms down. We get him cleaned up, but unfortunately, this has only loosened the tooth even more, not actually gotten it out.

I knew he would never ever let me touch his tooth again. A week or so later, the tooth is basically hanging by a thread. Jeff starts telling Boston about a time they tied his tooth to floss and it pulled his tooth out. Surprisingly, he let me tie the floss to his tooth and the front door. I have Gracie in my arms, and tell Boston i'll hug him while Dad shuts the door. I didn't think Jeff would have a problem with it, but apparently he has issues with inflicting pain on his children. He just sat there, kneeling next to the door, shaking his head and mouthing to me: "I don't think I can do it. I really don't think I can do this." I just start laughing again. I, however, do not have a problem inflicting pain on my children. So much so, that I handed Gracie over to Jeff and immediately pulled out the slow motion setting on my phone to make sure I recorded the whole thing. SLAM. Again, the laughing tears came and I recorded the tile for a good portion of the video because of it. It ended up being a success, and the tooth finally came out! I will never forget that stubborn little front tooth and the joy it brought me :-)

Happy Birthday Boston!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! We had such a great day :)

First Christmas!

These kids got spoiled. I'm not even mad about it, it was a hard year.

We stayed home and played with toys all day. It was awesome!
