Dresser makeover

This is my old dresser growing up. I painted it the brown color in high school. You can tell by looking at the very bottom sides just how good of a job I did :)

When my mom brought it over, with a bunch of my old things, I had fun plans for it...and since I am completely obsessed with chevron stripes.....what do you think???

Goodbye Newborn Binkie

This event deserves a post. Boston, you've finally dropped your newborn binkie for a normal non-ugly one. Although, I thought you made them cute. A few weeks ago you finally chewed through your original hospital binkie. Yes, we kept his original for 17 months! It was lost, and then found many times, and even after replacing it, for some reason it kept showing up. That hospital binkie really stuck it out! I don't know how many others we lost, especially once Boston started throwing them. I know there are quite a few under displays at the grocery store.
So maybe it was the fact that your number one binkie friend bit the dust that drove you to take the new ones, I don't know! We've tried to get you to take these since you were about 3 months old. We finally gave up and they stayed in your toy box, because you like to play with them. Last Thursday, you put one in your mouth......and it stayed! Normally you spit them out after awhile, but not this time. Come nap time, I expected you to cry for your old ones, but you went right to sleep! Say what?! I was dumbfounded. I'm still dumbfounded! After trying so hard a year ago, its really just that easy? When you woke up I asked you where binkie was. This was the ultimate test. You looked around in your crib, and picked the new one up. Are you freaking kidding me. This is huge. HUGE! This has given me hope that breaking you of your binkie might not be as hard as I thought....just maybe.
Well, goodbye green binkie. Our relationship has been bitter sweet. You've been my savior many many times. You've plugged up that mouth when I wanted to rip my hair out. You also were a pain in the butt to search for. I've probably spent at least a full month of my life in search for you, you stupid binkie. I'm not really sad to see you go. Til we meet again, you stupid binkie.

17 Months

Here's to 17 months! My most favorite thing about this phase of your life is your new facial expressions. They are hilarious, and show your growing personality. You are so funny! You still love bath time, and you climb in the tub whether it's time for bath or not. This last week, I got you out of your bath, dressed you, and next I know you're climbing in the tub again fully dressed and soaking wet. I don't think you expected there to still be water in it! You like to run in circles, clean out drawers and cupboards, spill powdered sugar all over the kitchen floor, and climb on everything.
Your vocabulary is growing so fast I can't keep track of all your new words. There are many! You've added 'there it is,' as in when were trying to find your binkie, and find it, you'll say there it is! You started taking anew binkie today. It's a flipping miracle. You picked it up, put it in your mouth, and there it stayed. I am shocked. Hopefully it lasts!
