Mothers Day 2020

We had a great Mothers Day this year. The kids got up and made me breakfast, and cooked me dinner. They kept their hair and clothes nice long enough after the Sacrament to get a porch picture with me. They got me a paddle board to use on the lake (that I will have lots of fun using next summer when my life jacket fits over my belly again. haha) They also picked out and helped me plant flowers in the front yard.

I will admit - I really miss going to church. Maybe not every Sunday, because home church has been really cool. But I really did on Mothers Day. I miss the primary singing to the moms, I miss the Sacrament talks, and I missed the cute primary papers I usually get from the kids. Maybe I'm being selfish, but Mother's and Father's Day are some of my favorite Sundays up there with Easter and Christmas.

Look how cute and well behaved these kids are! Especially the last one. Grateful I get to torment them for life :-)

April Happenings...

Our neighborhood did an Easter Scavenger hunt Coronavirus style. People hid toys randomly throughout the neighborhood, then posted a picture for people to go find it. We actually found one, and the kids loved it! We really love our neighborhood.

Watching conference. Rylee liked raising her hand to sustain our leaders.

Spring Break

We let the kids pick a theme each day for Spring Break to try and make it a little more special than our every other day stuck at home routine.

Kids Baking Championship - We challenged the kids to make donuts. They got to pick whatever kind they wanted and chose either mom or dad to help them. Boston chose strawberry and Ellie chose chocolate. Yum! They both won :)

Outside day - we picked the nicest day that week to spend the whole day outside. We rode bikes, went on a walk, played in the backyard, did yard work, ate meals outside, but finally decided to come inside to roast marshmallows since it got cold and windy when the sun set. The trampoline sleepover changed to a living room sleepover real quick ha!

Pirate day

We dressed up like pirates, and went on a pirate treasure hunt!

We also had a Star Wars day and a girls day, but I forgot to take pictures. We colored, did hair and nails, and they even got to paint daddy's nails!

Easter Bunny Parade
Saratoga Springs put on an Easter Parade the day before Easter. It was hyped up pretty good, and the parade went right by our house. It ended up being pretty anti-climactic. It was 3 cars, one with the Easter Bunny, one with Little Miss Saratoga Springs and one was a police car. Haha. But it was cool anyway!

Dying Easter Eggs and Easter Egg Hunt

 Easter Sunday

Making Resurrection Rolls. Rylee was completely amazed that the marshmallow (or Jesus) disappeared, and kept saying: "He's alive again!" And now every time we ask any question during our Come Follow Me lessons, she responds with Jesus died or "He's alive again" haha

I've been attempting a lot of new things during quarantine, one of which was making french bread. Boy did I fail! For some reason the dough expanded width wise instead of raising higher. The picture doesn't even do it justice, it was so wide. Much like me by the time I make it out of this quarantine :-)

Boston's math assignment one day was to measure the distance of a paper airplane. We spent hours making and flying airplanes and then measuring how far they went. Any chance I can turn his school work into a family activity I take it! School is so much more fun this way.

One of my more favorite weeks of family night Come Follow Me. Learning about King Benjamin while in tents worked out pretty well! We might need to be in tents all the time so everyone sits still and listens ha ha.

Making masks for the neighborhood.
I didn't make a ton, but I offered if anyone asked for any on our neighborhood Facebook page. It worked out so well talking about service in our lessons, and then being able to show the kids how service affects us and those around us. It was a good week. We left them on baggies on our front porch and then watched when people came to pick them up.

I also signed up for the church mask service project. I was nervous to tackle 100 masks in 4 days, and it turns out I wasn't nervous enough ha! It was SO time consuming. My ankles were so swollen by the time I was done I looked like a giant marshmallow. But handing those masks in at the end of the week felt so good! Jeff helped me a few nights, and when we were finished his only comment was: I have no idea why you like sewing. hahaha.

Afternoon walks end up with Rylee being carried. She sure loves her Dad.

Crazy kids

Boston is such a good sport. He did the girls hair, and let them put a bow on his head. I'm telling you, this guy is going to be one great husband and Dad some day.

Thunderstorms and raindbows! SO cool!

Another favorite part of quarantine: supporting local restaurants. Geez, i guess if the governor asks us to eat out, we better do it right? :) Nothing was more disappointing though when everyone got a fortune in their cookie except me. My future is blank and unknown ha!

Loved our tulips!

Ellie rarely falls asleep in the car anymore. I'm glad she did this particular drive home though, so I could document what a creepy sleeper she is. Sorry Ells, but its true. Yikes.

Kool-Aid hair dye! This was fun...it didn't last very long in their hair, but they sure loved it while it lasted!

This trampoline is one of the best purchases we've ever made. I'm so grateful for a backyard.

Cool clouds..

April went by much faster than March! We're getting the hang of this staying home thing!
